the Otto-Modersohn-Museum
The museum was founded in 1974 in order to make the artist's work
accessible to the public. It has been widely extended ever since,
thus making possible a chronological presentation of Modersohns
artistic development from the early years at the academy to his late work.
A certain number of outstanding paintings by Paula Modersohn-Becker
are exposed as well. In regular intervals the museum presents special
exhibitions with accompanying catalogues focussing on certain aspects
in Modersohns work.
The museum is situated in an exeptionally charming countryside through
which the river Wümme flows. |

the permanent exhibition
In a permanent exhibition the Otto-Modersohn-Museum presents
the painter's complete work, consisting of pictures, drawings
and documents. The different artistic periods covering the years
from 1883 to 1943 are divided into three main sections: "Westphalia",
"Worpswede" and "Fischerhude". A certain number of selected paintings
by Paula Modersohn-Becker are also being exposed. Special exhibitions,
shown in regular intervals, help to illustrate certain aspects of
Modersohns work and its artistic surrounding. |
